They also utilize clips and sounds from various other media, mostly Bananas in Pyjamas for some reason. [...] like the parts in Family Guy where they play an entire Conway Twitty performance.

There are many references to various, miscellaneous media scattered throughout the whole Greeny Phatom series, ranging from character dialogue to clips being played.

References

Angry Video Game Nerd

  • "Geo Guy vs. The Fruit Salad Man" - At the end of the episode, when Doctor overhears Little Guy talking about broccoli trees doing funny tricks, he is beat up by Little Guy after telling him "I'll show you some funny tricks!". This references the scene in the "Bugs Bunny's Birthday Blowout" episode, in which the Nerd says the same thing before beating up Bugs Bunny.
  • "Rude, Crude, and Tattooed" - Although not a direct reference, the NES games that Little Guy lists are all ones reviewed by the Nerd.

Annoying Orange

  • Throughout season 10, a screen similar to the end screen on Annoying Orange's YouTube videos is displayed before the credits.
  • "The Halloween Treasure Hunt" - Near the end of the episode, Earthy Guy annoys Dr. Beanson in the Annoying Orange's voice.

Arthur

  • "Dr. Beanson Builds A House" - The audio in the cold open in which Dr. Beanson falls out of his plane is recycled from "Arthur's Big Hit".
  • "A Pushing Off to the Lasers" - The audio throughout the scene where Green Bob tells everyone he beat Little Guy in the laser fight is recycled from an Arthur episode.

Bananas in Pyjamas

Bananas in Pyjamas is by far the most referenced media in Greeny Phatom.

  • The Take polylogy - The title of "Take One" and the subsequent "Take" episodes are derived from the Bananas in Pyjamas episode of the same name. Although the polylogy revolves around playing video clips, the original episode is about the Bananas and the Teddies playing musical instruments.
  • "Chasing Wednesdays" - The episode's title is similar to "Chasing Tuesdays", and also contains audio ripped from it.

The Beginner's Bible

The theme song from the direct-to-video series by Sony Wonder plays in two Season 10 episodes:

  • "The Best of Dr. Beanson" - Plays during the montage.
  • "Birthday Time" - Plays during the end credits.

Betty Boop

Charlie and Lola (TV series)

  • "A Pushing Off to the Lasers" - Green Bob says "Boo! Made you jump!" in Lola's voice; the sound clip is taken from the title card of the episode "Boo! Made You Jump!". Another one of Green Bob's lines is also taken from the series.

GoAnimate

  • "The Cure of Santed Sailor 5: Santed Sailor's Funny Episode" - Dr. Beanson states that anyone who bullies Doctor again gets "grounded".
  • "Doctor Beanson's School Days" - Dr. Beanson grounds Little Guy for two billion years due to his actions at school.
  • "Don't Break the Ice!" - Little Guy gets grounded by Doctor shortly before getting beat up by him.

Hey Arnold!

  • One of the series' closing logos is a recreation of the Games Animation Inc. logo from Hey Arnold! featuring Little Guy.

K-fee commercials

  • "Little Guy goes Fishing" - A G-Major version of the music from the "Fishing" advert is used in the scene where Little Guy fishes.

The Legend of Zelda

  • "Barney Christ and Little Guy's Heaven Battle" - Barney Christ calls Little Guy "Zelda" just before he is slashed.
  • "Little Guy's Secret" - The entire episode's plot and most of the dialogue are copied from the CD-i game Zelda: Wand of Gamelon; specifically, the cutscenes.

Looney Tunes Logo Bloopers

  • "Channel PBS" - Dr. PBS references the tantrum running gag when he repeatedly calls Green Bob a "doofus".

Mad (2010 TV series)

  • Some episodes contain fake commercials for cereals, which all directly reference a sketch about a cereal named Rice Shreks. This was a prevalent meme during the golden age of the Greeny Phatom community.

Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa

  • "Dr. Beanson Builds A House" - This scene is referenced during a conservation between Little Guy and Little Guy 2.

Monty Python's Flying Circus

  • "The Banane in Pigiama with Banane Dogs" - An off-screen character - apparently named Monty Python - utters the line "And now for something completely different", but is cut off by Little Guy.

Oishi High School Battle

  • "Doctor Beanson Makes A Movie" - Dr. Beanson's movie recycles audio from the episode "Detention".

PBS Kids

  • "Grow Greeny Spot" - While Dr. Beanson is working at the clinic, the PBS Kids mascots Dash and Dot suddenly appear with firearms, causing him to run out while yelling "Dash and Dot had guns!" repeatedly.

Peanuts

  • "Christmas Eve on 123 Greeny Phatom" - Near the end of the episode, everyone watches a scene from A Charlie Brown Christmas.
  • "Buttercup Blues" - A piano recording of "Linus and Lucy" plays during the credits.

Phineas and Ferb

  • "Christmas Eve on 123 Greeny Phatom" - During the opening scene, the song "Not So Bad a Dad" plays.

Pokémon

  • (unknown episode) - One of the CLG signs is the Game Freak logo, and is targeted to Jirachi fans.
  • "Coke Colar IV: Home of the Stupid Signs" - After the credits roll, the Sony Wonder logo is destroyed by the Pokémon Zekrom.

The Powerpuff Girls

  • "C is for Cookie" - The clip of the explosion is from "Reeking Havoc".
  • "Doctor Beanson's School Days" - The line "Once again, the day is saved thanks to Doctor" alludes to the ending of Powerpuff Girls episodes.

Pube Muppet

  • The character Pube Beanson is a direct reference to this ancient Newgrounds meme.
  • When talking about a certain subject, characters have a tendency to say "but not just any (subject)", which originates from one of Pube Muppet's catchphrases.
  • "Pube Beanson goes to Showbiz Pizza Place" - The first part of the episode follows the formula of a typical Pube Muppet video. This is complete with the Beanson gang exclaiming to Dr. Beanson a variation of Pube Muppet's catchphrase: "What the heck? What kind of piece of crap establishment is this? Screw off and let me be!"
  • "Coke Colar II" - Beanson uses another variation of Pube Muppet's catchphrase similar to the aforementioned one in the opening scene.

PythagoraSwitch

  • Greeny Phatom: The Movie - A few scenes feature music from the program.

Regular Show

  • "Grow Greeny Spot" - The song "Party Tonight" from the episode "Mordecai and the Rigbys" plays during the credits.

  • 123 Greeny Phatom has a similar name to 123 Sesame Street, the address of the show's titular location.
  • "Learning about Letters"
    • Its title is the same as a Sesame Street direct-to-video special from 1986.
    • The episode concludes with a "brought to you by the letters" speech by Dr. Beanson.

The Simpsons

  • "Take Six" - One of the clips is a scene from the episode "I Am Furious (Yellow)" in which Homer falls into a pool of green paint and becomes the Hulk.

Sonic the Hedgehog

  • "The Official Lip Dub" - The title screen music from Sonic Mega Collection plays in both the intro and montage.
  • "Team Sega Mutant Little Guy Clones"
    • During the intro, Knuckles punches the Cinar logo to the side after it finishes.
    • Dr. Beanson plays as Knuckles in Sonic the Hedgehog 2 with the Sonic & Knuckles lock-on.
    • Miles "Tails" Prower makes an appearance, albeit as a still image.

SpongeBob SquarePants

  • The concept of time cards is reused from SpongeBob SquarePants.

Super Mario Bros.

  • In some early episodes, Little Guy mentions "Lava Land"; this possibly could refer to the Lethal Lava Land stage in Super Mario 64.

VeggieTales

  • The Sing Along Songs with Doctor segment is a reference to Silly Songs with Larry.
